A sweet thank you email!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Below is a very nice thank you note from an applicant who jsut received a job offer! Congrats Lynda!

"Dear Pam,

Thank you for your message. I so appreciate all that Staffing Solutions did for me over the past several months. I don't know how I would have made it through them without everyone's support and encouragement. The seminars were very helpful and I learned a lot from working through the self-paced MS Office 2007 study program.

I am very happy in my new position and feel I have been guided to just the right place.

Please pass along my appreciation to Bonny, Lisa, Michelle and Les.

Sincerely,

Lynda S"

Tis the Season to be Thankful!

Take a few minutes out of your busy day and think of a few things that you are thankful for. Below is a very sweet note that made our day from a current Applicant!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

"Bonny, Pam and the Entire Team;

I wish everyone at Staffing Solutions a very Happy Thanksgiving. This year I am filled with gratitude and thanks for Staffing Solutions and your provision of a great job at ABC Company. Each Thanksgiving, I request each member of my family to write their top 20 things they are thankful for over the last year. This year you not only made my list - but also my husbands! Thanks for your caring, your personal concern and attention to detail - and for running a first rate organization that I am proud to be affiliated with.

Blessings to all,
Naomi B"

Monster No Longer the No. 1 Jobs Site?

We recently blogged about a job search site called Indeed.com. Have you heard of this site? It seems many jobseekers are unaware of this fantastic job search engine! In Website Magazine, according to the latest data from comScore, Indeed.com officially became the largest job site in the United States, bypassing longtime leader Monster.com in October!

"A total of 12.3 million users visited Indeed in October, a monthly increase of 19.6 percent. Monster had 12.1 million visitors while CareerBuilder was third with 11.3 million. The numbers reflect the sites’ main jobs sites only and not their entire networks – in which case larger properties Monster and CareerBuilder would still have the edge."

Indeed has added nearly one million new jobs to its index each week! Indeed attracts more monthly pageviews devoted strictly to job searches than Monster, CareerBuilder and HotJobs combined. Now keep in mind, other job search sites do offer additional information such as resume-building tips and career advice.

HotJobs monthly traffic has fell 67% in the past year.

Why does SSI like Indeed? Unlike other job search sites, Indeed searches jobs listed on job boards, newspaper sites and niche sites- More than 1,500 in all! Indeed monitors job listings on these websites on a continuous basis, so in one simple search you can find the very latest jobs listed on all these sites!!!

It’s Not Always a Job Behind a Posting

One of the biggest complaints we’ve heard lately from applicants is that most of the jobs posted online aren’t, in fact, real jobs at all! Or the listing was not representative of the job itself.

Not only do job seekers have to worry about competing with hundreds of others for an opening, now they have to worry about whether or not the position for which they applied is real. Many are finding that service providers are posting what appears to be a job opportunity, only to find out it’s a sales ploy. Online universities have also posted what appear to be a job listing, only the link for more info leads to class enrollment forms.

Another common scam that has evolved out of the social networks is phishing- where a con artist poses as a legitimate business, gains access to your passwords, then steals personal or financial information. Phishing has increased over 178% since 2004so you need to be aware of who is requesting your address or social security number and if they really are who they claim to be.

A 'mule' operation is another scam that is coming out of the woodwork! These ‘mule’ operations follow a formula: the scam operator will wire stolen money to the applicant’s credit card. The applicant is asked to purchase certain items, typically expensive electronics. The applicant then ships the goods to Eastern Europe so the scammers can sell them, and the applicant never receives a paycheck or job.

There are always going to be con-artists who take advantage of people in a bad situation. Please educate yourself on potential scams to avoid- that’s the last thing anyone needs to deal with, on top of looking for a job!

Why Should I Use Indeed.com To Find a Job?

When Staffing Solutions contacts a candidate, we ask where they are job searching. We hear the usual Monster, Career Builder, and Craigslist. Those are great sites but there is one job board that many jobseekers are unaware of: www.Indeed.com!! This is one of the most comprehensive search engines for jobs! We want to get the word out about this site so you don’t miss out on a potential opportunity!

Indeed searches jobs listed on job boards, newspaper sites and niche sites. Indeed monitors job listings on these websites on a continuous basis, so in one simple search you can find the very latest jobs listed on all these sites!!!

According to an article by Wendy Boswell, from About.com Guide, David Parmet, Indeed's Director of Communications, was asked for some more information on what job boards, etc. that they cover and he said:

"The short answer is….all of them. We cover all of the major job boards, newspaper classified sites, niche industry sites and corporate job sites. More than 1,500 in all. You can include Monster, HotJobs, Craig’s List, Career Builder, etc. in that group."

Indeed.com is very simple to use. Jobseekers can find more jobs in five minutes than searching on other job boards. Jobseekers can also subscribe to job alerts where new jobs will be emailed to you daily!

Indeed.com is a great website that allows job seekers to find jobs posted on thousands of company career sites and job boards. Go ahead and try it out today!
